Exploring the Future of Design

Launched in 2023, Haworth DesignLab highlights emerging designers who look beyond the boundaries of the commercial office furniture industry. Through the DesignLab collective, we foster creativity and celebrate new perspectives and artistic vision. These immersive experiences, fresh ideas, and unique perspectives offer a glimpse of what’s next in design.

Haworth DesignLab 2026 x Paved States

This year DesignLab will be part gallery, part exhibition, and part retail space, with panel discussions and hands-on workshops. THE MART’s lobby will explore the home as a continuous space where living and working merge, shaped by new rituals, materials, and culture, with vignettes for different settings. The space was created in collaboration with Sixtysix and Haworth.

Patricia Asks Anything

Patricia Urquiola, curator and designer, takes the chair across from some of the Paved States exhibiting designers and asks the questions only another designer would think to ask: the instincts behind the work, the doubts that sharpen it, the hopes that pull it forward. Join us for a conversation about process, formation, and what each of them is reaching for next.

The Curiosity Framework—a Panel with Benjamin Edgar

Join us for a moderated conversation with Benjamin Edgar and Chris Force, Editor-in-Chief of Sixtysix Magazine, on building a practice without a rulebook. The conversation digs into how emerging designers develop a point of view, navigate the industry on their own terms, and find a framework for making work that matters. Benjamin Edgar is a Chicago-based designer working across industrial design, contemporary culture, sustainable goods, and education.
