Creating a workplace for different ways of working
The project called for a careful balance of collaboration and acoustic privacy, multiple workstation configurations, and a cohesive design language inspired by both contemporary workplace design and local culture. Air Liquide also wanted a single seating solution that could provide long-term comfort across a wide range of spaces and user needs.
Balancing collaboration, focus, and privacy
Working closely with Studio XP, Haworth helped create an open workplace that supports interaction without sacrificing privacy. The solution combines acoustic privacy, flexible workstation planning, and ergonomic seating within a unified workplace platform.
Customised workstation screens were developed to provide both visual and acoustic comfort. Mounted on elevated rails, they maintain sightlines across the office while acoustic cores help reduce distractions and support focused work.
Linear benching, 120-degree configurations, and HAT workstations create a variety of settings for different work styles while maintaining a unified visual identity throughout the space.
To support the design vision, Haworth collaborated on tailored colours and finishes that introduce subtle local influences while preserving a contemporary aesthetic.
Fern was selected as the primary seating solution because it accommodates users ranging from the 5th to the 95th percentile, enabling Air Liquide to deploy a single chair platform across open workstations, focus areas, meeting spaces, and private offices.
